Not for the child, who is going to be shuttled back an forth between her mom and and a woman who is no actual relation save for being in a relationship with her mom way before her birth.
Perhaps it is not even good news for Sondra, because I find it hard to believe that the child will actually regard her as a mother as it grows up.

Regarding the equality issue, now that domestic partnership is available, allowing homosexual non domestically-partnered couples the presumption of parenthood goes way beyond equal into a preferred status for homosexual relationship-unmarried heterosexual male partners of birthing women generally do NOT have the presumption of parenthood.kisaritahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18181012456635737873noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5510198324204233853.post-29803295182929463232009-12-12T04:24:55.381-05:002009-12-12T04:24:55.381-05:00I couldn't agree more. And as a new Oregonian and committed & unmarried heterosexual, for some reason (probably to avoid studying for the Oregon), I thought I'd look up whether Oregon has addressed "unmarried heterosexuals" as a protected class. So, FWIW, I found only one tax case, in September 2008 (no appellate information, but it might not be decided/online). It was bad.

Haldeman v. Dep't of Revenue, 2008 Ore. Tax LEXIS 201 ("no evidence that opposite-sex, unmarried domestic partners had been the target of the routine adverse treatment characterizing members of suspect classes, and the taxpayer alleged no such treatment. Opposite-sex couples like the taxpayer and her partner were free to enter into marriage and avail themselves of the benefits of marriage.") The old, unsurprising, "because you could get married, you must."Bobby Maugerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14607118295378104358noreply@blogger.com
