Wisconsin domestic partnership law under attack

As expected, Wisconsin Family Action is seeking to block the state's new domestic partner registry. In a suit filed today, they claim the registry violates the state's "defense of marriage" constitutional amendment.

In an earlier post, I explained that gay rights advocates could have minimized the likelihood of success of such a suit with a more inclusive law.

That's a real bummer, but kind of expected. It's still disturbing to think that organizations like the Alliance Defense Fund (or Moral Majority...eh) get funding from people with no claims of damages and only backed up by ideology.

Furthermore, they really are dramatic and hyperbolic, “This registry is an assault on the people, the state constitution, the democratic process, and the institution of marriage, which the people voted so recently and so overwhelmingly to protect, said Appling."

Really?! Fringe activist group?!

I love the names that these organizations use to parade their bigotry. "First Freedoms Foundation", "Alliance Defense Fund". How about the "Super Patriotic American Ronald Reagan is Jesus Foundation". I think that sounds good.
